geo silencer (Durso)

I bought the 1 1/2'' silencer for my overflow. Well its not quite but it does flush a lot. I tried lowering and raising the air tube, it is either flushing or shuddering. I have built a new stand so it is a lot taller no more sharp bend in the hose. I removed the cap on the Geo so it is draining but loud. Any tips or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

It seems to get quietest when the tube is just barely inserted in the hole on the cap.

Do you have a single overflow? May need to raise or lower the pipe itself to hit the sweet spot.

Agreed, get the tube about 1/2" into the top. Another thing you might try is to change up the flow through the overflow itself, by either restricting the return pump down a little bit, or opening it up a little bit. You trying to find that common ground, and it's not a problem at all to make small adjustments with the return pump.

I had the same issue with mine and could never figure it out until I submerged the drain pipe in the sump. I have the drain submerged 8-10". It seems these things work better with back pressure or maybe its just my situation.

My drains are submerged.

GO HAWKS!!!!

;)

My wife had me pull it. It would only work with the air hose out. I am going to buy a shorter spa line and see if that helps. She wants me to put the bio balls back in, I keep telling her I do not think they make them anymore

Tell her that bioballs are now controlled by the US Govt., anyone caught running them will pay a large fine!

In all seriousness, did you try to increase or decrease the water flow coming out of your return pump? This might help to find the sweet spot as well.

I have not tried changing the flow since I cut off my old ball valve. So I will need to buy another one. I will do that this weekend while I am fixing a small water leak on the spa line fitting.

moon

How deep do you have the drain outlets submerged?

Only other thing I did was cut the air line hose to about 2-3" and play around with that.

I agree with Jeremy, you may need to play around with the flow to find that sweet spot.

. I was running the white 1 1/4'' pipe with the gray 1 1/2'' pipe and a reducer(not the large cap) So I just put the large cap back on with no hose, it seems to work now but still has a sucking sound. The top of the cap is 1'' below the bottom of the teeth of the overflow. I am thinking that the spa line is having a negative effect on it,

I am not following any of this. Pic?

Hope these pictures clears things up.

Too low. Remove. Add at least 2" to bring the pipe up higher. Then put the cap back on. Need to raise the pipe, not just the cap.

Good news!
