About 13 months ago I bought two very small juveniles.
For a couple of months now theres been a change in both behaviour & colouration.
The smaller of the two has been dominant for about the last 4-5 months: he feeds more aggressively & boldly, has grown more and occasionally gives the other fish a short chase. He has also deeply intensified his colouration. He appears a much deeper crimson red, while the other fish is paler. The colouration change appears permanent and doesn't vary throughout the day.
So is this colouration change a dominance thing? Or since they are supposedly anthias, is this related to sex? Don't think they're incompatible as most of the time they stay within 6" of each other, hopping around together.
Any insight would be appreciated.
