Geometric pygmy hawk??

I have a couple of friends who have them in their reef displays. No reported problems other than sometimes snacking on small shrimp or crabs. They aren't interested in your corals.

Well i was just reading something and it said not to add them to a reef because they will eat coral. Any others on these guys?

I have a pixy hawk (Cirrhitichthys oxycephalus) in my 65g, he doesn't bother the corals at all. He perches all over the place, but never directly on a coral, and seldom bothers with the crabs or snails. He did kill a cleaner shrimp after a few months though. Hawks are fun and if you don't mind the possiblity of losing a few inverts now and then they're safe, just watch out for their feisty little personalities - I wouldn't house any shy or delicate fishes with one of these guys.

Your fish is actually a perchlet (related to groupers). However, they do act a lot like hawkfish in that it can (and often will) perch on corals. They are a good species anyway, seeing as how they do not bother much of anything.

I have had one of these for over a year in my LPS tank.He never bothers any corals or my shrimp. He only perches on rocks.I would not rank it high on the personality list, but he is very colorful.
