hey all,
as i posted earlier in another thread the bod has approved a school project, and i just need the signed paper work back from the school and everything is a go.
mrs. suchajd's 5th grade class will be studying ecochshpere's in march april and may so i was approched bye mrs. suchajd on what was involved with keeping a salt water tank,so i setup a meeting with her and dicussed what it would intail, but as with everyone getting into the hobby she was afraid of the large price tags on items that are required to properly setup a tank, then i suggested that since this would be a good educational project that i could get ncpars involed. so i sent a proposal out thought the bod and everything is approved.
so at this point i have a list of things to aquire and if we can get members support it would be great.
and this list is as follows:
55 gallon Tank and stand = donation
Proper lighting = power compacts, vho's or metal halide's
Pump
Live rock = 1-3 lb./gallon
Refractometer
R/o water $1/gal. Or a ro/di unit
Heater
Thermometer
Sea salt
Some form of filter
Sump or refugium
Powerhead
Live sand or crushed coral
Protein skimmer
Power strip
Timer
Clean up crew
Frozen food
Flake food
Calcium
Alk buffer
Fish and corals
also at the spring swap there will be a place for donations for furture projects.
thank you for your help and support and helping the club grow in this area.
