Just got home from there and may I say it is AWSOME! It is rediculously large, Whale sharks, stingrays, sharks, reef fish and everything. Well worth the $26 admission.

I agree, it is AWESOME!!!!!!!! We went in May and was just amazed, Montgomery has proposed plans to build one, but I don't think it will happen.

I agree, I thought it was a joke when I saw the plans. It will not happen in my lifetime. Hey are you a Montgomery Reef Club Member?

Yes, Atlanta is great now in the big tanks. The reefs tanks are a little sad yet, but that just takes time. I hear they had a lot of trouble with the reefs originally but now they are on track and ready to start growing.

I have been to both the Tn and GA aquarium, and i would have to say, hands down, TN is better. the outside atmosphere is better, in GA people were attacking me to get to the glass, and it's not that way in TN. Tn also has a butterfly garden, you also don't have to wait in line outside for hours on end waiting to get inside.

Takashi Amano said that he likes Tennessee Aquarium much better, too, when we visited Georgia Aquarium last fall. Georgia Aquarium is great but it's too much like other large aquariums whereas Tennessee Aquarium is not only pretty but also quite unique.

I like both of them, though.

So I guess that makes at least 6 they've tried so far. Just can't get behind that effort if the animals keep dying.

I went to GA Aqua in the middle of the week during school hours. It was really nice. I didn't have to wait in any lines and worry about kids stepping on my toes. I could have spent hours there! My vote is for GA Aqua.

Actually Chattanooga added an entire building of the salt water part of the system. The reef tank is not a real one yet. It's designed after the Flower Garden reef in the Gulf.

They added 2 floors of the new building as salt - I've seen it. I do dig the penguins though....

Still isn't as close to as nice as Atlanta...although there are a lot less people there which makes me happy

My wife and I had been to Chattanooga's about 3 times before we went to the Georgia aquarium. After hearing how much better than the TN aquarium it was supposed to be, we were terribly dissapointed when we actually went. Sure, they have some unique marine life and a couple of really cool large displays - but we took our time and it literally took probably 1.5 hours max to go through the entire thing. The TN aquarium however, especially now that they have 2 buildings is probably a 5-6 hour venture at the very least...

The Atlanta aquarium's draw is the pure size of the building and "gallonage" of their tanks since they have a couple of huge ones for the whale sharks, etc.... The inside is much more artsy and more of a performance venue. If you're talking about diversity of marine life and the amount of it to look at though, I would have to say TN wins hands down... And yes, it's generally a lot less crowded....
