I'm considering a little mini vacation for myself to see the Atlanta/Georgia Aquarium. Anyone been there or have hotel suggestions?

Eric,
We were there for a MACNA.
Great place, plenty to see there & in town.
Coca Cola , CNN to name a few.
Look up MACNA on the web there should be a list & look @ Atlanta for more info.
The hotel was within walking distance but without the discount probably pricey.
Have fun.
Vinny

Ive been a few times, what type of budget are you looking for in a hotel?

There are several very high end hotels in the area, and some much more affordable ones.

Amazing aquarium. Do yourself a favor and pre-book a behind the scenes tour. It was the highlight of our visit.

I'll be travelling alone, as the wife refuses to fly and isn't all that interested in the aquarium to begin with.

I'm not looking for a penthouse suite, but I do like to be comfortable (TV, internet, etc.) and able to enjoy being in the room. If the hotel is within walking distance of the aquarium it would be a "plus."

If I go, I plan on booking a dive with the whale sharks. I've been around Atlantis/LI Aquarium enough that I'm not sure I need another "behind the scenes" tour of an aquarium.

Here are some pictures I took from the tour/aquarium. Makes we want to go back all over again...

Then check the Hilton Garden Inn, its right across the street, nice place, as long as its within your budget.

This place is pretty special. Walking distance to the Coca Cola Museum too. I am going back in the fall/winter with my wife. She is begging me to take her to the coke museum. I am going to do the behind the scenes tour. I have never seen it before.

The airfare is killing me. $400-$500 depending on the day. Cheaper to go to Florida. To bad the aquarium isn't there. ;) My sister-in-law has one of those travel thingies so I'm hoping I can get a free hotel to balance things out.

Its only a 12 hour or so drive :)

We took a trip up to Middletown, NY to visit the in-laws and took a train in to NYC from Beacon twice. Once for the Yankees game and another for Empire State Building, WTC Memorial, FAO Schwarz, Carnegie Deli - wow, Walk through Time Square and Train ride back. Unaware if there is an aquarium, I would of went to it. It was a good trip.

See if you can find a flight to Florida with a lay over in Atlanta, and the same thing on a return trip, just be sure not to catch the connecting flights.

Due to the cost involved, I decided to throw a little more cash at my vacation and am planning a trip to the bahamas to get my scuba fix for the year.
