Golly, your brother-in-law was right there at the debris cloud. I guess he just barely dodged the bullet on that one.
Our power went out before we had a chance to fix dinner. We went to Pizza Hut late and found out that there was a woman killed in the tornado we saw from our house. Another tornado killed two people about 10 miles from the house. This is definately the closest we have ever been to tornados and I really think I've seen enough already.

All I heard on the radio was, "Don't try to outrun the tornado, pull over and take cover in a ditch or a storm drain." Well, the road was slick with hail so I was going to take their advice. But when the hail busted my windshield I did not have a very hard time deciding to stay in the vehicle once I saw the funnel cloud was over the hills moving away from where I was. And I was using a 300mm zoom lens on a Nikon D1H, so I really was not even as close as it looked. I was not brave, I was scared. But heck, if I'm there with few options I might as well take a pic for posterity.

Hey Phu. Those are some awsome pictures. I bet if you sent them to the news they would put them on. They are much better than the ones I have seen so far.

Nice pics guys although like has been said the sanity of sitting there watching is somewhat questionable. I can't really talk though as I stood by a 5th floor window and watched the Nashville tornado a few years back go within 100 yards of me That was before I had a wife and kids though. It's funny bad storms didn't use to bother me at all. Now all I can think about is where am I going to put the family if one gets close.....but I guess that's good.
