I think the type of tank is very important. Chromis and the Wrasse would work well in any kind of tank. Clowns also seem to be a fan favorite and work in a lot of different kinds of tanks. Triggers can be awesome fish in a FOWLR setup, as can some of the larger wrasses like the lunar wrasse and porcupine puffers, but I wouldn't keep any of that in a reef. I agree with sirus about the ich...can be such a pain, and even QT your new animals doesn't seem to do the trick. I only have 6 fish, and about 200 gallons of water in my system, and would like to add 2 or 3 more, but I've found my reef does so much better with the low bioload, and emphasized my corals a lot more. I have a tomato clown, yellow chromis, sgt. major chromis, yellow watchman, 6 line wrasse, and a purple pseudo (frag tank for this guy) in my tank. It suits me well, and sometime I'd love to get a powder blue tang to be the main fish in the display.
