dont flame, i know its a small tank, but oh well, i live MY life to be happy, and having a lionfish makes me happy. so NO FLAMING i dont care about the too small of a tank opinion. if you would kindly answer my question, plz do, if not dont post and move on.

volitan lion, approx 2" picked up this friday. my first lionfish, my favorite kind of fish. i hate the dwarfs.

housing in a 26 gal tank for now, reef, with plenty of room. its not crazy filled with LR. my current fish (mating false percs and firefish) will go into a 10 gallon that'll be plumbed into the same sump, right next to it.

my question is... i have snails and hermits (which i know will be safe) but what OTHER fish can i put in there? maybe 1 more (clown trigger? / picasso trigger?) that WONT chew corals?

How silly no flaming. Well good luck first off there is no reef "safe" triggers. Secondly there are no triggers that can be housed in your tank. Thirdly asking about other fish for your allready too small tank is asking for more trouble especially when those fish are also too big.

any small fish, that lion wont eat? or cant eat? or is everything a chance... even fast fish.

how bout an eel? 1 lion and 1 eel? u gave a couple tunnels... but will my snails and hermits be safe with eels?

Hmm I think a lion fish will or can I should say eat anything small enough to fit into their mouths. I think some fish have a smaller chance of being eaten but I'm not sure which ones. Eels are hard. They usually try to escape and a VERY secure top is pretty much needed. They are pretty good at finding a way out. I don't think eels are big on snails and hermits but I could be wrong. I think they are more into crabs and shrimp.

lmao, who died and made u god?????

I agree, lions will eat anything they can fit into their mouth, and if it won't fit, they'll kill it trying to eat it. I had a arc eye hawk that was bigger than my lion, but the lion decided he was going to eat him anyway - almost choked to death, but killed the hawk.

I had a large dog faced puffer with my lion, but he was bigger, and the lion never bothered him.

many eels starve to death with such aggressive tankmates without target feeding.

One of the biggest problems you will have if you try to add another fish is you may have to over-feed to 1. keep the lion from eating his tankmate and 2. insure that the lion AND the tankmate get enough to eat.

Of course, in a small system, your water quality will definately suffer, too much waste

In any event, make sure that you have tons of water movement and exagerrated filteration.

Hey guys, I'm about to jump off an old bridge into shark and aligator infested water. NO FLAMING!! Don't tell me I can't do it, because people who disagree with me make me really unhappy.

So, my question is, how can I successfully add sting rays to the water and then swim across the ocean to safety.

If you tell me I can't do it I'll report you to the mods!

ianindc,
i think if u thr0w a c0uple baby seals and maybe a antel0pe in there u might have a g00d chance 0f making it. l0l

1)If you have been a member here for over a year with over 1200 posts then you already know that what you suggest is irresponsible.

2)If you refuse to accept that fact that you should not keep a lion and a trigger in a 26 gallon tank there is no way to answer you without flaming.

3)IMO you are simply looking for an argument.
