Im getting a 50 gal uniquarium..the ones with the bio system in the back...jsut wondering if anyone tried to plumb a sump/refugium on one of these guys...
any pics or suggestions?
or should I leave it with bio-balls, as is?

Would like to keep fish and softies.
thanks!

Could you be a bit more descritive about the "bio system in the back," that you refer to?

I work on a 70 gal tennor at work (which has what you are refering to). I took the bio-balls out, they are a Nitrate generator. you have live rock so you really dont need them. You already have a type of sump in place, you could drop some live rock in there if you like. Was there some special resaon you wanted a sump? you could still use what you have (less the bio-balls) and plum underneath and behind your tank into the bulit in sump and not mess your tank up.

well the main reason was for the live rocks and a refugium. Would taking out the bio balls and replacing them with LRs work just as good in the back portion?
Has anyone tried to do a refugium in the back area?

you can put the live rocks in but I dont think you can get away with refugium. Dont know how yours is designed but mine has a couple of baffles and the bottom is seperated by an eggcrate divder, the return pump sits in the bottom of that so sand or plants wont work unless your is different in design.
