I looked at aCanon 30D this weekend at BestBuy. Tryed to buy it on the spot but they didn't have one in stock. I decided to stop the impulse purchase and come home and order it.

Anyone have any feedback on this camera?

Oh and BTW, once I get it I'm really going to be pestering you guys to help me use it.

30D is an excellent camera- I commend your choice :) Now you just have to decide what lens/es to get!

I was in the same boat as you. I was looking to get a 30/20D but ended up with a Rebel XT and had money left over to get some lenses. What makes you want the 30D over some of the other models? The 30D is a great camera and I don't think you can go wrong with it, it just turned out to be more camera than I needed and it was great to get a few lenses to use with the XT.

I think that you'd be much happier with a Rebel XT. Because of my gracious and generous nature I'm willing to trade you straight across; no questions asked.

Hey Mike, you should look into "Nature Photography" by John Shaw. Excellent book with tons of great info and well written (not dry and boring).

Hey Gregr, know of any good online forums? I regularly visit Dpreview.com which is very informative. Just wondering if I'm missing out on any others.

Here's the deal on lenses. And as usual I'm going to spend way more money than I origially planned. I was told that the kit lens isn't very good and I should get the body only. I'm taking that advice. I'll be getting a 17-85mm image stabalized lens for a walking around lens and a EF 100mm f2.8 for macro. Then I need to save up for the x-300 mm zoom.

Thanks for the book recommendation. I'll order it. Amazon? I live in Montana and planned on alot of nature photography as well.

I think the Rebel would do everything I need, however the first time it didn't I'd be upset. I used to do photography in high school and I am taking it up again as a serious hobby.

Started after the severe disappointment in my tank pictures with my Fuji Fine-pix and giving polite nods to others that post crappy pictures of their tanks.
