Getting back into it!

Vapour1ze

I'm an Addict.
I want to get back into the hobby very soon! I am curious, does anyone know anyone selling a large rimless or somewhere around the area that will ship/deliver a rimless?

I want to be around the 1,000$ mark for tank.

Preferred dimensions would be 6' wide, 2' deep 2' tall. Making it for a 180? I believe.

It's been so long, I'm not sure, Veryyy possible.

I use to go to swaps all the time and met a LOT of people when I parted out my tank about 4 years back.

If you ever feel like a road trip, I'm 2 miles West of where I-180 turns into Rt.29 just South of Princeton.

Welcome back. Soon. Hopefully. I remember your handle but not sure we ever met. Also let me know when you are up and running, and maybe I can help with early SPS stock.

If you will have a basement-type setup I may have some pumps given you have a large system (trying to sell a refurbished Chem-Tech [ReefFiller] 15gpd diaphragm pump.]

Awesome, thanks for that ostrow. I'll let you know....

The plan is to have a LARGE rimless in the living room on the main level... And plumb everything to a sump in the basement, not sure I've ever seen this done, but I think I am going to attempt it. My dad being a plumber and me being creative, I think I can make it work... Going to use some bends for the overflow on its way down so it doesn't churn the water too bad.

Going to need one big return pump. :)

You are welcome to see my setup. Remote sump/fuge/equipment is quite common for large displays and there are many threads on basement fishroom setups. You should peruse them for ideas.

I recommend hose rather than pvc for the long run and bends. Quieter and much less restrictive. I begin rigid pvc at the basement manifold and go to flexpvc from manifold to the pump and from pump to the sump. So flex pvc is maybe a total of 4'. Rigid pvc maybe 5'. Hose the rest of the horizontal and the vertical to the display.

I may have a spare large pump you could buy (I have to check to confirm - I know I have one; if I have two you could buy one so I could keep a spare on hand.), and have that chem-tech/reeffiller for topoff.

Thanks for that ostrow, my previous build was an inwall in the finished part of the basement, and fishroom was the entire unfinished area, I had about a 18x18 fish room. :) So this time (moving to new house) I am having the display up top, and the fishroom below hopefully (trying to figure out how I am going to do everything) but I like your idea!

The flex tube sounds great.

Nothing is going to happen until later this year though I believe, but I am looking to get parts and pieces during the down time.

So I appreciate the response.

Thanks !
