Getting evicted, need to sell tank & halide lights ASAP

Hello all. Long time, no-post. Wish I could be posting with good news.

My move up to Ohio went well and almost all tank inhabitants made it, I only lost my pink milliporia.......and my Superman Monti!!!!! Figures that two of my favorite corals did not make it. Other than that, the new tank looks great!

Anyway, as you may/may not know, my fiancee is still in Orlando. Due to her getting laid off her job, and just starting a new one (at lower pay), and me just starting out up here, AND having to move, money got real tight, real quick. Needless to say, we came up short on the rent for our house, and just got a 3-day eviction notice.

So, we are desperate.

Got some fish things still in S. Orlando that need to be sold ASAP.

1. I have my 125-gallon pre-drilled glass tank with built-in corner overflow box with 40-gallon sump/fuge and custom solid Oak stand and top. Tank is a standard 6-foot long glass tank. Sump fits inside of stand. PM if you want more details. $450

2. 175 watt Metal halide electronic ballast and pendant. Used bulb included, (if she can find it). $100

3. Matching pendant to above item (took ballast with me). $50 (will sell for $25 if you buy #2)

4. 250 watt metal halide balalsts, (Magnatek industrial magnetic ballasts) --two of them. $20 each or $35 for both.

5. 2' x 8' (exact dimensions slightly larger, I will find out) sheet of 1/4" acrylic. Not quality enough to make a display tank out of, but would work great for a sump or frag tank. Worked with same stuff several times without problems. $50

If you buy the tank, I will throw in the two pendants and the one ballast for $75. That is what I used on it when it was up and running, and got great results.

More stuff to come soon, once I figure out what is still there.

I will try and find pics.

Pickup ONLY. Bring move help for tank & stand.....they are heavy!

Please PM if interested, we are running out of time.

Thanks
-Ray

Here is a link to the build thread (on another board....sorry RC) from when I built it several years ago. As you can see, I build quality stands that last. Shows good detail. Lost the digital pics of it in a hard drive crash a while back.

Tank & stand build thread

You can see the pendants in a few of the pics as well.

Thanks

Here is a pic of the finished stand & tank.

Sorry to hear about your situation, but isn't it a 30 day minimum for eviction? Some courts will even allow up to 90 days... Never heard of a 3-day eviction notice and if I am not mistaken that is against the law?

Maybe someone a little more informed with these situations can chime in.

I know medicine and the laws that pertain to that, not rental laws.

She came home yesterday and found a notice on the door saying that she had 3 days to either pay or be evicted. That is all I know, but will check into it now.

Thanks for the tip.

My wife's parents had rentals for a long time here in FL. They could never evict anyone that fast. It was something like 60 or 90 days. The rental laws are online, I don't have URLs but I'm sure you could search and find them, and there's no way they could legally have you out in 3 days.

http://www.800helpfla.com/landlord_text.html

"Non-Payment of Rent
Section 83.56(3), F.S.
The landlord must serve you, the tenant, a written notice allowing three days (excluding weekends and legal holidays) for you to pay the rent or move from the premises. If you do not pay the rent or move, he/she may begin legal action to evict you."

That really sucks. Im sorry youre having to go through this.

Very nice tank and pendents.

That's an amazing build.

I really hope you get it sold. I'll be watching this thread, hopefully I get rid of my 110 today.

As for moving out, the key words are "Starting legal action"

Yea he cant just make you move out in 3 days. It sucks for people who rent out houses cause the rent can go a few months without payin rent until the state forces them out. Then they just move on to the next house. I think its bullcrap but thats the way it is.

He can't evict you that fast, but the legal action will result in a judgement against you for any rent due up until the date that you actually leave the property. While a judgement is real hard if not impossible to collect on, it will ruin your credit. If you can it's best to either see if the owner will work with you an catching up, or maybe give you a week or two extra to move. Better for him to work with you then to go through 60 to 90 days of legal action that only costs him more money.

And that is why it's so important to run background checks and verify rental history if you intend on renting out any piece of property. Its unfortunate if you're the first one, but being the second can definitely be avoided.

Well, this is a first for me. I have been renting for 15 years and have NEVER lost a security deposit.

We are talking with the rental company now and trying to arrange something. Even got ahold of the houses owner, who is trying to break away from the rental company, and she is working with us as well.

Thanks for all the input, but we still need to come up with some extra money.

All items still for sale.

It can happen to anyone at any givin time. No shame in falling on some hard times. I believe it's the ones that make a habit of it that people are complaining about. I know when i was younger, i went from a full scholarship and a contract with an engineering firm to working on a frieght dock loading trucks in one double feature drive-in movie lol.

it takes no less than 60 days to execute a non contested eviction.

The three day notice is mandatory by law in order to start the eviction notice. basically it says "pay rent in 3 days or get out"

Then they will have to post two other notices. best (or worst depending on who you are) case scenario it would be no less than 60 days before the cops will knock on your door and escort you out.

If you submit written notice to the judge explaining your situation, they will normally grant at least a 30 day extension, or schedule a court date.

Just because they hang the 3 day notice, doesn't mean you will be evicted.

It sounds like the rental place is just following protocol, and you will probably be able to work something out with them. It is better for them to work with you and get their money rather then not see a dime from you...spend a bunch of money trying to drag it out of you....and then probably not getting anything but the rental back.

my apartments hang the 3 day eviction notice on our door if we are one day late on rent......

best of luck! I hope this will at least ease your mind a little

I wouldn't sweat it. They have to serve the 3 day so the process gets started. It just means you didn't pay. Otherwise many deadbeats abuse the system(not saying you). After 3 days, they have to go pay a fee to the courthouse and then you get served with a 30 day. You can contest it if you feel you have been wronged. There is more involved but like others mentioned, don't sweat it.

Easy for you to say, we are still short on what we need.

All Items still available

Well, I mean don't sweat getting kicked out in 3 days. Are you not able to pull out an advance on a credit card? It beats losing your place till you can find something.
