Getting new sump, need skimmer picked tho

So im having my lfs build me a new 20 long sump/refugium.
I am having them make as much in sump skimmer and refugium as possible, other then that keep it simple.

I need to pick a skimmer out first dont i so that they can design to fit.
I want to spend around 150 if possible and get an in sump skimmer. Any suggestions?

A 20 long is pretty tight. Only 12" wide. Why not save money and have glass baffles cut and put them in your self? It cost me $20 for my sump/tank and $30 for the glass cut to size. Only a few $$$ for silicone. For a little over $50 you can make that sump.

yea i might make it myself. depends on if i can find a glass shop that will cut for me

My current tank is a 40 Breeder with a 20g long sump.

I have had an SC Aquariums-301 protein skimmer running in it for over a year, and I have been more than happy with it. It has a standard design and a very small footprint, and it performs like a champ!

Here's a link and GL!

You can do it either way, but the proper way is the opposite of what you have. If you read the link to GMAC reef it explains why you want it reverse of what you have.

We all do things slightly different, but I was just trying to point out a proiblem before it arises.

I don't think id worry about it. How can water fall and make bubbles from something that is setting the hight of the water? Trying to say one way is the right way is a load of BS.

The article states to control bubble's you can

Lower your flow rate

Use a siphon base over

Place the skimmer far away from the return

Or minimize the distance the water has to fall

Then we get to the reason they want the baffles that way. They are afraid of debris getting trapped but this doesn't take into consideration the skimmer and the possible use of filter socks.
