Getting ready to add a sump

Hey guys, I just got my overflow box and return pump...now I need a sump. Anyone have any old tanks around like 30G they can part with? And Lionel, do you know how big that acrylic is? I can go tomorrow and pick it up with you I think, but I dont know of my car is big enough.

it's less than 1/4th of an inch from what ive been told. (the stuff the other guy has for free) but if you want to buy some, navel kadena sells big sheets lf 5mm and that'd be just fine to build you a sump. I've got a van..

I think the free stuff would be cool, I dont really want to build the whole thing, I would rather just find a tank.

BTW lionel, the lion fish is doing good, I have been feeding it guppies and goast shrimp. Anyone have any tips on feeding a lion fish? Anyone know anything about "gut feeding"?

I guess this is a sign that I should upgrade my sump with baffels. I've been meaning to do it, I've just been very busy and lacking the acrylic materials. Is there a good place to get acrylic?

Hey Lionel, I got that cell cast sheet at my house when ever you want it. I would like to get that thinner stuff asap. You know where I live right?

So there I was yesterday, looking at my creation. I finally finished my sump, about 25G…bubble tower…3 baffles…refugium… return pump…and an overflow box. I was finally ready to get this up and going. I started the siphon in the overflow box and flipped the switch to the return pump. Water started draining and circulating back up. But oh wait...the return pump seems to be pumping faster then the overflow box is draining. So I pulled the U-tube and unplugged the return pump so I could put together some kind of valve. All of a sudden the water in the sump began to rise. *** is going on I'm thinking to myself. Then the water started coming over the edge of the sump...and coming and coming. About 10G later I realized that the return line had created a back siphon to the sump. Yes, I'm new. Live and learn I guess. Just figured you guys would get a laugh out of this. Anyways I went to makeman today and got some PVC and hard lined the return pump. When it dries I'll give an update...maybe some pics too if I remember.

You aren't a reefkeeper if you haven't done that, or something VERY similar! Let's see some pics of the setup.

How big is the display? On feeding the lionfish, you could breed black mollies. They are easy and at least brackish water fish so have some saltwater to their origin. Maybe more nutritious than freshwater guppies. I have no scientific data on it though, just a guess... I used to feed black mollies to my triggers all the time... If you do it make sure you get at least 4 females to one male, or the males will stress the females too much.

The display is 55 gallon, I will post pics later when I get home from CrossFit. I suck at breeding fish, I go to petbox and get 5 males and 5 female guppys and I never get any fry.

I just made 3 frags from it, if they take off and the donor is good I will make some more in a few days to share but I ran out of glue. I have more pics of the fragging I will post in a few.
