Getting Sump Into Stand

I have the exact same tank and stand. first off, you cannot slide any sump tank either form the front or the back. The only option is from the top. I used a 20 long as my sump and was able to slide it from the top. Since you have 29 which is taller you have no other option but to remove the center brace and replace it after the tank is place. Or go buy a 20 long tank and make that a sump.

You sure it is glued? I just whack mine from underneath with a rubber mallet and it pops right off. If it is glued, John Zena has the answer.

It may be just the angle of your photo but that sump tank looks pretty tall. You are going to want to be able to access the sump. Make sure you have enough room to at least remove your skimmer when it is in place.

Good point raised by blowmecius. First off there is no glue so if you want to take it just use the rubber mallet from under it and it will come loose and then use screws to put it back in. It is wood so it should come out clean. But here is the important part. I put a 20 long in there which is much shorter, thus allowing me good head room to work. With taller 29 gallon, you will find it very difficult to work in especially your skimmer. Think before you start rippin that stand out.

20 long is good. I use a standard 30 gallon for my sump and i have an 8" skimmer. 90 gallon with same foot print as a 75. I don't have baffles and use an eheim 1260 return (600 something gph) so there is low flow through the sump and no bubbles in return. I like low flow. Less noise, more contact with skimmer and media, more room in the sump without baffles. Many ways to skin a cat but I like simple.

I had the same situation with my 65 gal. I had to settle for a 15 gal instead of the 20 long. I happy with the results. IME a 20 gal would be sufficient for your application.

So I kind of left this post hanging. You guys are correct and the brace isn’t glued. Made the decision to take brace out and was not looking forward to issues that could arise. Then it just popped off lol. I have my baffles in and protein skimmer. All seems well for now. I am able to get everything in and out and have enough room o operate down there. Thanks for all the help guys. Really winning this community.
