Hey checkinhawk, on your refugium how tall are the baffles? I was thinking of making it 14 inches high and the baffles something like 10 inches - does that sound OK?
you plumbed a couple of hours, lol.you will get it done, take your time and do it right, like you have been.im surprised at the lack of leaks too,but i did tape the heck out of everything.
So far, I believe the only thing I underestimated is the amount of time I would spend plumbing. I thought I could plumb it all in about 20 hours. I'm over 50 hours so far, and still working.
mflamb, thanks for reminding me of that small detail . My sump is 16 inches tall right now and I have a small leak in it. I'd like to redo the sump and make it nice to get to everything - not as young as I used to be . Also put a splash guard (removable) over the output area. I might have to start a thread to make sure I don't make any mistakes on this one.
and here is the final piece of the water puzzle.i made my auto top off today,i am going for maximum use of space with this.i was able to make the topoff sump fit behind the tank between my closed loop intake and the closed loop outlets.it is a gravity feed so i need to get a simple float valve.it holds about 9 gallons so that shouldbe good for a few days(3-4 i hope).the dimensions are 24"tall X 6 1/2"deep X 13" wide,i had to bend it at the base to a 45 degree angle to fit over some loop plumbing.
checkinhawk - that really looks nice. Man knowing and working with acrylic really comes in handy with this hobby. did you put the center piece in for support?
That's sweet. So are you going to just fill it up when needed with a hose coming from your RO system? Or do you have a permanent plumbing attachment? With the float switch will that be located in your sump area, return or input - does it matter? I'm just full of questions aren't I?
the float will be located in the return section of my sump.this is the area i see losing water from evap.i will just manually fill the topoff sump.i really dont want to run a RO line from my garage to my tank nor do i want to drill the walls.but if i did run a RO line i would never half to fill he topoff sump.hmmmmmmmmmmm
Now you're talking. I have the 10g tank as my topoff which is real nice and I've been thinking about having the RO attached right to it. I have so many things in the works right now - that and the float are back burner. It works great I just have a small valve that I adjust - drips about 2g/day.
