Getting to know Tucson reefers

Hi, I am Wade. I am a helicopter mechanic. New to the hobby. I have been snooping around the LFSs and scouring books, magazines, forums, and YouTube soaking it all in. I acquired a Free 55gal long tank for helping someone move and that is where I began about six months ago. I built a stand, overflows, and sump, scored some goodies on CL for bargain prices and hope to get my setup running in the next couple months. I am certainly taking my time. I want to do it right. Pls reply with some insight or PM me if you would like to share so advice.

I just noticed that I've also never posted in this thread. My name is Cesar and I live close to the BORDER where I spend most of my nights on foot hiking. I did FW for about 25 yrs and now how exactly 2 yrs experience with SW. My main DT is a 125 and I also have a 9 gal nano that I'd like to switch to one of those nice Red Sea 28 gal. nano's one day.

I'm currently experiencing some GHA for the past 6 months. I've thrown everything but the kitchen sink at it but still can't find the source.

I've met several of you through trades and forum buys and am glad to be part of this group. I'm glad we have this forum to help each other out and I jump at the chance to help any noobs that have questions that I can answer.

Hello, I'm Chris I've been in the hobby for about 2 years now. Current setup is a 150 Gal rimless euro braced reef tank, just looking for occasional advice and to give some when I can. I started out with softies but now I am trying SPS and love it. I have about 12 fish and not nearly the amount of coral I want, lol.

lol im new at this i will post some pics when i figure out how

Welcome, most people create a photobucket account for free and them upload your photos to there. From there you can copy paste the img code right over. Let me know if you need any more help.

You can do the same thing without photobucket. Just upload it at the bottom under manage attachments, then after it uploads click on the image. When the image opens up you can copy the link there. Then click the mountain image with the moon to paste the URL.

Hi guys. I am new to Reef Central and relatively new to the hobby. I picked up a used 150 gallon tank that I plan on setting up. Not sure if it will be fish only or will add some easy corals.

Does the Tucson Reef Club meet monthly? If so, when and where?

Welcome, we don't currently have set meetings or places but hopefully we can keep meetings happening and everyone involved. Just keep an eye out on this forum and we'll announce it.

Thank you.

Where is the best place to purchase fish, corals and supplies here in Tucson? The list of stores hasn't been updated since 2010. So far, I have been to Petco, Gq and Simple Elegant. I wasn't very impressed with the selection or pricing.

Hey Guys - First timer here! I decided to stop being one of those creepy lurkers and create an account. Enjoyed meeting many of you guys this last weekend at the frag swap. I'm in the process of converting my 55 gal reef into a 125. If anyone has any great ideas for an internal/external overflow w/bean animal on a tank with 2 inches of trim I'd love to hear it.

Brian
