GFCI-Dont Have A Tank Without One!

When I came home I realized that a rock had fell in my 10 gallon, but didnt realize my kalk dripper filled the tank all the way to the top. When i stuck my hand in the tank it overflowed. i heard a splah and everything in my room turned off. The fact that my dad installed a GFCI in my room today probably saved my life. So the lesson learned, spend $12 extra for your tank to get a GFCI outlet, IT COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE!

There is no reason not to have one... they have plug in ones you can buy... called "Shock busters"

They sell them at Lowes too (not sure about home Depot or other places)....but I imagine they are sold there too.

You should also have a grounding probe in your tank...

GFCI is good but not always the best back up .
Use GFCI plus keep every wire plug away of water and the floor.
Many water related fires started and the GFCI never trip off the power.
