GFO bad for clams?

I was told that GFO is bad for clams. I run GFO. My desarea has grown over an inch in 3 months, he seems very healthy.

Should I stop the GFO ?

GFO's can contribute to problems with PM, if you have that problem. Othwerwise, dont worry.

I had pinched mantle in two derasa,s and a bit in my crocea. A freshwater bath seemed to get rid of it for a bit, then it came back.

I read about the gfo on a clam forum and I was running it. So gave the clams another freshwater bath, removed the gfo and running a lot of carbon as suggested.

Its been a week now, with no signs of the pm returning so far. I dont know if it was the 2nd. bath, the gfo removal or both. I plan on running gfo again, once I,m sure the pinched mantle is gone.

I have a Derasa and Crocea in my tank with GFO running 24/7.
Both clams are doing well and have good grow

Mine were fine also, until I introduced pinched mantle on another clam.

As posted the baths alone could not cure it, until I removed the gfo. Or perhaps just a coincidence? I,m not sure. I will put gfo back in my system once I know there is no more pinched mantle bothering my clams.
