Does running GFO in your tank 24-7 effect zoa and poly growth?

Because I had no fish I took mine off line a couple of months ago and things started looking a little better but still not coloring up real well. Would have liked to stay fishless but I caved yesterday and added a six line because many good zoa reefers have told me that no fish = stunted to no growth and also light coloration. And ya I know there are many contributing factors but those I have put to rest by making those changes already. Like I said I would like to have stayed fishless. I will post a thread in a month or so to confirm or debunk this theory.
