GHL Mitras Club

In my opinion you could get away with three units, and four units would absolutely provide enough coverage. I have three units on a 84x24x30 tank and have them about 8 inches above the tank (I have a height restriction above the tank). I have one end of the tank exposed too, and there is plenty of light in the tank at all corners. I have had no issues with keeping any corals, and my tank is hitting the maturity point where I am seeing excellent growth. So as I said - three would probably be enough, but four would be more than enough for sure.

I gotta say, I have 3 positioned like this | | | over my 52 inch tank.. I like having more point sources of light to reduce shadowing and I would not have gone with two.. I'm full sps.. Even in the lowest corners.. And they are all pretty happy..
I would go with at least 4 on an 8 foot tank and if you want sps absolutely everywhere..... 5... I'll stop typing there.... :)

That's my 2 cents..

Shane you may want to edit your email out of the public post and drop Anim8me2 a PM. I think he has a lot of projects saved and ready to go.

:)

Question/comment;

1) Is there a quick way to turn the light on for maint?
without going into the illumination-manual illumination-etc

2) if yes, Is there a way to add/program/modify this?

I request GHL consider adding the following:
add root menu option for "maintenance lighting" to turn on white lights to preset max %. It would also be helpful to have a Red light option where only red lights are turned on to low % to allow for hunting/viewing of those pests.

I also believe the USB port should be on top or at least on the side of the unit.

I just picked up another (2) Mitras from Allen at ReefBytes.. this should complete my lighting and I'm looking forward to finalizing my setup.....

Thanks Allen, you were extremely helpful and knowledgeable in answering my questions and processing my order. It's a pleasure knowing there are still quality businesses out there.

Shane it was my pleasure. I am anxious to see your system once you get everything set up. I expect a LOT of pictures :)

Adding another mitra to my tank

Adding another mitra to my tank

I currently have 2 mitras on my tank since the Sept. I just got a third one to add to the tank. Do I still have to update the firmware then make it a slave for it to work with the 2 current ones or are the new ones shipped with the current firmware? I plan to slowly ramp up the output to match my other two. Any other things to look out for?

There hasn't been a firmware update in a few months so I'd assume that it's up to date. However, I'd connect it to the control centre just to make sure..
I believe that if you plug it in and make it a slave, it'll look around and find your master... And that'll be that.. But I've never added an extra light after having two running already, so I don't know this for sure.
Keep in mind that you're adding 30% more light to your tank so make sure you ramp up slowly (like you said you would..)
You may want to consider lowering the intensity on the current two fixtures as well and ramp them all up together..
How big is your tank?

Matt, my tank is 72x24x24. just wanted some more light for my corals. Good idea to lower others and ramp up all three.
