Ghost Moray with a Snowflake

I have a 90g Reef tank with very few occupants, I originally tried a fish-only system, but ich was rampant. So I decided to wait a few months to let the ich die off. At this point, it has morphed into a Reef. I have a huge Birds Nest SPS, a green and a pink toadstool, a Mini carpet anemone, a green Bubbletip with a hosting domino skunk clown, a Desjardini Sailfin Tang, a Vlamingi tang (3in long), a Tiger Jawfish, and a 6-8in Snowflake moray. The tank has 100+ lbs of Live Rock and has been up and running for 6+ months. While checking my lfs website, I saw that they got in a ghost moray today:dance:. I love eels, obviously, so I started doing research and decided that my tank, parameter-wise, would be a fine match for this eel. However, I wonder what the ramifications will be should I buy it and put it in with my Snowflake. His temperament so far has been very shy, but he eats well enough. I want to know ASAP if this eel would be a good match for my tank as is. Please advise, I wish to not have my hopes crushed if I can help it, I am going to observe him tomorrow.

I can't comment on the "compatability" of the two eel species. But I'll just caution you that you've got a pretty sizable bioload for a 90G already. I'm not sure how your LFS' website matched your tank's parameters with the addition of a second eel, but I would bet you'll have a tough time with nutrients by the tank's first anniversary. The tangs are heavy eaters and so are the eels and all can get huge for a 90G. Fwiw, I love eels also. There's a LFS near where I work that I go to just about weekly. They always seem to have a different eel/s in there. It's just my opinion that they belong in a species tank for the long haul, and even with all the sw I have in the fish room, I haven't been able to get there. Someday.

sounds like you have a lot to learn.

also sounds like no matter what we tell you that you are going to get it.

i have a ghost eel.

they are small. thin and will end up everwhere.

as for the compatability. i would say no

the SFE will have a conciderable mucsle advantage over the ghost eel.

IMO/IME no is the answer
