gill flukes?

One of my clowns has been spending a lot of time near the sand, where he normally sleeps but all day long for the past few days. I noticed his gills look a bit red? and swollen. Could it be gill flukes? Something else? He is eating alot and swimming occasionally...

Gill flukes are best treated with FW dips.

On the other hand, if you have introduced anything new in the tank lately, it could be beginning of brook. Then, other treatments are necessary.

marina , do you think so? I was thinking, my clown got red and irritated when it caught a bacteria infection followed by fin rot. her cheeks even swelled. I dident want to post anything because im not 100% on what to tell kerritedgi, but...

Gills can get inflamed for a number of reasons (flukes, vitamin deficiencies, concussion, bacteria, etc.).

Whithout a biopsy, we are left with a guess.
