GIRS DIY March 17th Meeting

This will be a DIY meeting, consisting of maxi-mods, acrylic tank viewers, and possibly a few other small projects. Along with this meeting there will be several raffle items and should give us a chance to get reaquainted.

The meeting will be held in

Location: Iowa City Public Library Meeting Room B

Time: This meeting will start at NOON

I have 2 1200's i would like to mod if there is a group order for this please let me know. I need the flow....... Or is this a how to meeting on the mods???? I know I don't have the tools or the patience (according to the wife) for the mods. Thanks

I am also willing to build a calcium reactor ala this thread for anyone willing to front the cash for supplies.

Here is mine

Worked great for over a year now. It cost about a $130 not including the CO2 kit and takes about a half an hour to build once you get the parts together.

I have this CO2 reg for $90

and I control it off my ACjr.

That and the deposit on the CO2 bottle. All in all the DIY saved me a couple hundred but CR are still pricey but man are they nice.

I could show the build and trim everything with PVC shears and have the owner glue it up at home. So I still think it is doable at a library on second thought.

Well, little compared to mine, ill bet mine holds atleast 3 gallons.



I'de be down for doin the mesh mod. Im kinda wanting to build an acrylic sump and smash my current one into little pieces.

I have enough mesh for a thousand mods. I'll give the club some, though donations would happily be accepted (hey, it wasn't free)

I'd be interested in building the calcium reactor.
Manually dosing is such a pain.

I got the canister at Lowe's it is most of the cost of the project at like $60 and it would be good to buy that ahead of time.

I could pm you a shopping list or we could go get the parts a little early day of.

Yes, there is one in Coralville at the end of the strip, not far from the mall......... also a Menard's.
