Hey whuts up guys. This is my 29g tank. It will have nothing but sps. It has a lot of shelving pieces to maximize the space available for corals. Also, the bottom is open to prevent detritus from settling. Here are some specs:

29g Tank

Lighting
250w mh with reeflux 10k
IceCap Vho 2 x 75 uri vho bulbs
moonlights coming soon

Flow
Tunze 6060

Spraybar with Mag 7

Filtration
Euro-Reef ES 5-2
50 pounds live rock
Carbon

10k reeflux only

So what do you think so far? I am planning on getting the 20 for 200 deal from reefermadness soon. I want a monti cap. Do you guys think I should stay away from it in this size tank? Please give me some feedback. Suggestions are welcome.
Jerry

what do you mean "stay away from it for this size tank"? Are you worried about it getting to big?

I'm curious as to how you are going to keep the water temperature down with all that light?

I have been running the halides for about a month now. THe tank actually gets cooler because the fans come up at the same time as the light. The fans are 85cfm. They evaporate alot of water. Forgot to mention that I also ahve an ultralife float switch for automatic topoff. I had to get one to prevent salinity swings. ON the cap, yeah that is what I meant. THey are pretty fast growers and I dont want for it to take valuable acro real estate. I have a special thing for monti caps so I think I might still get one. Just wanted to get some input.

Jerry,

Tank is looking good man. If you want some nicer slower growing monti caps I would go with the Tyree Idaho Grape or the Leng Sy cap. You can find both of them next time you are in Austin. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Or you could just grow the caps and frag them (constantly, if need be). Then sell or trade the frags and stock the rest of your reef.

Cool, thanks for the info guys. Clint, the valley guys are planning a trip to san antonio the last week in march, I am sure someone can hook me up there. I will bother Pete and Brian for some frags.

You guys think this lighting will bleach the corals? Is it overkill? Let me know what you think.

You will be fine.

how is the 6060 working in the 29? i have a 29gal sps tank with a mj900 and mj600 and aquaclear 30. i was thinking of getting the 6060 but i thought it would be to much. thanks looking good by the way!!

The tunze in my 29 is awesome. Its a lot of flow but it is aimed towards the front glass. I noticed that detritus was settling in the area below the tunze so I added a SEIO 620 on the opposite side and now its perfect. If you have a sand bed, you will probably have sand storms. If bb, i say go for it.
