Glass baffles

Can anyone recommend a local source for glass baffles? Called a few window/mirror companies but nobody seems to be willing.

home depot will cut small glass. if you want thinker glass find a wet saw with a glass blade. that is how I trimmed mine (3/8" glass).

you can use emery paper - stuff used for plumbing to give an edge that wont cut you but it will not be "polished" IMO polishing isn't necessary. after you cut it you could call glass shops to see if they'll polish it for you but it'll probably cost more than the glass

least expensive DIY option is to use acrylic baffles and silicone them to the glass. I own my own tile saw and had a glass blade. I called glass shops and unfortunately while I had them make my overflow pieces I needed them trimmed by an 1/8" so I had to trim them myself. not hard to do but working with glass shops to polish the 1/8" was impossible. Also it was hard enough to find a glass shop to make the pieces in a timely manner. Around here glass shops only deal with up to 1/4". It seems they are relying on wholesalers to provide finished pieces and they just install them.

I asked the same question in a thread a few days ago. Someone here told me to call these folks. I am not sure if this is far from you but here it is.

I thought acrylic on glass doesn't bond too well?

@rovster and ebz: i will give those places a call, I am kind of far but oh well. Any idea what i can expect to pay per baffle, 12"x8"?

I let it sit overnight.

Remember if your gonna glue acrylic baffles to glass you gotta give it more clearance because the acrylic will expand. If it's too tight against the glass, it can crack the glass. Just cut the acrylic a little smaller than the desired size and the silicone will fill it in. Remember if it doesn't look pretty or you made a mess, you can clean up the excess silicone with a razor.

Acrylic flexes/bows out over time, do it once and go with glass.

You can look for glass places online via yellow pages. In Miami they are all over, most can cut and have it ready in 2-3 days. Polished edges and all, go with 1/4" or if they have 3/8". I believe pricing is around $12-15 a piece from what I remember. I need to get some cut for my new sump soon.

Matts Glass in Lake Park. They polish the glass also, but it's really not needed for sump baffles.

The will naturally sand the edges so there are no sharp ones.
