hey, not to start abother heated substrate debate lol , but at work we have what is called glass bead, basically crushed glass, the size of sand, it is very white and knida reflective and i want to try it in a tank, any drawbacks? thanks guys

This stuff will likely peel the skin off any sand sifting animal in there. Sounds bad. Couldn't immagine that going through gills (crushed glass? ow!)

If im not mistaken there is silica in glass and this isnt good for SW tanks.

OK GLASS IS INERT PEOPLE!!!! its Neutral It contributes NOTHING to a tank Neither GOOD NOR BAD!!!!! BUT it may very well trap waste which will contribute bad stuff and im not sure that glass beads would be safe for sand sifting fish as they may have Sharp edges.

The substrate would be fine as long as it's not any sharper than regular sand, and doesn't contain anything except glass. The size of the particles has the same concerns as any substrate.

the particles are the exact same as my carib-sea sand in my other tank, and why would glass be bad for water, after all i think glass is the main thing holding my water in the tank
