Glass for DIY hood

I am making a 4 ' long hood for my tank with 2 250 watt single ended MH Bulbs. I would like to know what kind of glass to use to protect the bulbs from the water and where to get it.
Any help would be appreciated.

IMO I wouldnt use any, just make the hood higher

If you do use it, use tempered glass. Its heat resistant(to a degree) compared to normal glass.

The glass can be found in the phonebook under glass.

were you planning on mounting the glass to your hood or having it lay on the top of your tank?

Acrylic might work. Lowes sells thin sheets of it for pretty cheap.
