Glass hole enlargment

I have a glass frag/breeder tank and the hole that is drilled in the tank is too small for a bulkhead fitting. Anyone know of a way I can enlarge the hole.

Thanks,

The store I just had mine drilled in didnt have a big enough bit so they drilled as large as they ahd then ran a diamond grinding bit around it for a while. Took time but it worked, I have also heard of people useing a regualr drimmel and diamond grinding bit to do it as well

How much larger does it need to be? I drilled a hole for a 1" bulkhead using a drimmel - took about 2 hours! It worked. If it's just a little I'd use a drimmel with a diamond bit, but larger say 1/4 or more and I'd use a bit for cutting it. The regular bit is VERY chancy - I broke a tank that way.

I'll have to measure it to see how much bigger it has to go, I have two size bulkhead fittings and I'd like to go to the larger one if possible....

I have to say this, you guys are the best... everyone helping everyone....

ReefArtist, I'll measure when I get the chance and let you know.

Thanks again everyone,

I just enlarged a hole today with my dremel and it took 2 minutes. The dremel brand diamond bits are too tiny - I use diamond coated sanding bits that are like a cylinder the size of your pinky and it goes very quickly. I've done 3 tanks no problems. Buy them at the Harbor freight, 9$ for a box of 50, on Fletcher and 275 or feel free to borrow mine =) Be sure to spray the hole with water once in awhile so it doesn't crack from the heat though.

I'm going to pickup some diamond coated sanding bits today and see what I can do.

The hole is about 1 1/4 and it needs to be about 1 3/4.

Thanks all, I'll ket you know how it goes.
