I have a 1500 glass holes overflow box on my 92 gallon. I can't make it stop gurgling. I tried moving the tubing on the elbow no luck. The plastic stock is centered in the box. The return in the sump gurgles than stops. It is sucking air from the box. Any suggestions? Two return lines 1.5 inch going into sump

Are your drain lines completely underwater? Can you be more specific on the gurgling? My hunch is that bubbles are rising from the sump back up into the drain lines and becoming trapped. Then that air must be forced out, and creates a lot of noise in the process. Do you have any holes above the waterline through which that air can escape?

Yes the lines are both underwater. It gurgles then stops and starts. Maybe like you said they are coming back up in the pipe. I have reverse dursos on both. There is a 1/8 hole in each pvc cap. The air is coming from the box. I have to find a way to get the air out of the pipe, right?

I have one and it did the exact same thing. They send a tube that you put in the elbow. You can try spinning it around and moving up and down.I did two things I put a smaller pump on there. They are notorioulsly overrated size wise. What size pump do you have? I also put the Enkamat in the overflow box.the gurgling comes from the rushing water into the overflow box.If you have some foam or floss put it in ur overflow and see if it stops. If it does you will have to change it out and put new in frequently or clean the foam

I have a quiet one 3000 pump, it isn't that powerful. I have tried to move the tubing and spin it. How fast does enkamat get clogged?

The G-H is supposed to have a baffle to keep the water level high enough in the box to prevent it from sucking air from the skimmer box bulkheads. This is needed since the G-H does not use a down turned elbow in the skimmer box in order to make it thinner. Give them a call.

Tearing my mature system down and starting over with a reef ready tank for that very reason. I was talked into gh when I downsized from my rr 180 and have regretted it ever since. Good luck!

I have a glass holes 1500GPh. It is dead silent. It has 2 drains. One drain is slightly lower than the other so it operates at full siphon. I used a street elbow on one to make suck lower than the other. The hole thru the glass are lower than the other as well.

Got pics of that? The box looks narrow even to fit a street elbow. You have no airline at all?

no airline. I used beans silent overflow design. I dont have pics. The tank has a canopy, hard to take a pic. I made it about 5 years ago. The street elbow fits. I may have cut it, i dont remember.

Nice. The G-H units are pretty decent but I dont like the open bulkhead design. Its good info that a down turned elbow can be squeezed in there.
