Glass lid for Nano tank?

I'm a newbie and about to purchase a Red Sea Nano. But I have 2 Bengal cats who are very curious. Apparently they dont make a glass top for it and I dont think a mess top will be strong enough to hold the weight of a bad kitty. A guy working at the aquarium store said I can make a custom piece of glass/acrylic and use aquarium clips.

Any suggestions?
Thx

Shouldn't be too difficult to fabricate or buy something. I'd just say that if they are big bengal cats that they may break glass sitting on it and bend acrylic as well.,

Are they curious at all about water in your home? Are they afraid of getting wet?

My cat just loves to sit and watch my fish all day and she mostly lunges when they get too close. Doesn't cause too much commotion. She used to lay on my ato and drink the tank water too lmao! (Cats kidneys can handle saltwater)

Good luck keeping curious cats away!

LOL! I was thinking that Bengal Cats were some kind of new fish I hadn't heard of before. I was imagining a fish so strong it could break the glass, and yet small enough to fit into a nano. I've been away from the hobby, obviously, for awhile.

Ha! Funny eds

So I think plexiglass with a gap for air to circulate will have to do. My cats have lots of energy and love jumped up on stuff. I find them perched on top of bookshelves, kitchen cabinets and on the top of doors all the time. Plus they don't mind water. They'll sit in the shower occasionally and hang out.

Our Bengal has no interest in the tanks but will hop in the shower with you & all the other typical crazy Bengal behavior. We took him in a little over a year ago & he's 11. We also have a Golden Retriever & they work in tandem getting into things. We had to keep everything on top of the fridge so our dog wouldn't counter surf. But the cat learned if he knocks bags off the fridge the dog will rip it open for him. So now everything get locked in a pantry closet they can't open. We also have to secure the fish pellet food which which gave them both massive diarrhea for days.
If I were you I'd go with plexi as it wont break when they jump on it & defiantly get the clips so they don't knock it off.

*Just noticed how old this post was. What did you end up going with?
