glass over top of tank

Overall, I'd say my tank is doing very well.

I would like to see an increase in sps growth.

I'm using 2 X 250w 10k halides plus actinics over a 90 gal tank.

I have a 1/3inch glass sheild protecting to bulbs from the water (also protects fans inside canopy )

This is a DIY halide retrofit that I built inside a wooden canopy.

I like that the bulbs are like new and fans have no salt creep because of the glass. But I believe the glass filters out some of the light.

My question is, do you guys think that using a thinner piece of glass would increase sps growth? What about acrylic? would that be a much better option.

Everything growths fine the way it is and I love the colors but I'm just looking to improve.

By the way, I clean the glass of salt creep 2 times a week.

Thanks for any suggestions.

I'd stay with glass (less likely to have melt/burn/discoloration issues) but I would definitely go down in thickness. Maybe some of the 3/32 window glass.
