Glass placement on rimless tank

I recently bought a rimless glass frag tank 6'x2'x8". While I have seen this setup full of water and it seems very sturdy, I noticed the glass was silicon on top of the bottom instead of the sides. I recall reading that the placement on the glass should be on the side of the tanks due to the bowing.

Is there any more information regarding the effects of having the glass on the top instead of the sides. Just want to know how safe this is before I start placing my frags in there.

I build my own tanks and I set the side glass on top of the bottom glass all the time.

That said, in an 8" deep frag tank there will be very, very little bowing even in a 6' long version. I wouldn't worry at all!

I have a 4'x2'x14" shallow reef tank that is made that way (completely rimless and side glass on top of the base glass) and it's been up and running for a few years now.
