Glass Tanks in California?

I don't know about a wider tank, although it makes sense. I was talking about the issue of a 1000 lb. tank "hovering" 3 feet in the air on stilts. VERY top heavy. I would think a large, heavy sump in the stand would be a good stablizer, although it will still be top heavy.

Here is my problem with bracing a tank to a stud. Large enough tanks can rip the stud out of the wall. Now what is your bigger concern... tearing out a stud and potentially damaging the structure of your house, or replacing your carpet? I will take the carpet every day of the week.

i say go with whichever tank you prefer. in the event there is an eq, the last thing on your mind will be your tank.

I really don't want to have the sump in the stand. After years of crawling under the stand to adjust equipment I really want a fish room now.

how about a concrete stand?

won't matter in a quake. unless your tank is strapped in, it'll slide right off the stand.

1. eq's are far and few between
2. sunshine, sunshine, sunshine
3. hotties in bikinis
4. good food
5. better pay
6. lots of good clubs/bards
7. did i already mention hotties in bikinis?
