Glass Thickness with 6208 Wavebox

Roger, when you are back... (and congrats on your new addition!)

I have a 150 gal glass 54" long tank that I'm in the midst of building. My 6208 (along with dual 6105s) arrived today. The manual in the box and the online manual I downloaded from the Tunze site say up to 3/8" glass is supported... yet, the Tunze website product page for the 6208 says up to 1/2" is supported and I find a lot of references in this forum about 1/2" being standard, and you offering ways to get it to work with different magnets up to even 7/8".

Before I put my 6208 wavebox in water or much time passes in case I need to return it, will it work as-is with my 1/2" glass?

Up to 3/4" is possible. It will require replacing the inside magnets with 6025.500 which is a pair and you will use one on each mount. The reason for the differing numbers is it is rated to .47" they rounded up initially but it doesn't quite work that way, as close as .47 is to .5 it does not reliably hold.

Thanks Roger - as always. I've got a set of 6205.500 magnets on the way to me via drop-shipping from your location I suspect. (BTW, you may want to suggest though that Tunze change their website HERE -- it's not correct when one has to buy another accessory for more than $40 to make the 6208 work on 1/2" aquariums.)

I will double check this, it is possible that the magnets are actually good for 1/2" . 15mm is .59", older texts were 12mm.

It is for up to 15mm or 1/2"- here is the email I recieved from Axel Tunze-

15mm is correct. Claude did test such a Wavebox today in our tank in the
company. He said it is okay for 15mm. We will change the instructions.

Es wurde von Roger Vitko festgestellt, dass im Katalog die Wavebox mit
15mm angegeben wird und in der Anleitung 12mm Glasstärke vermerkt ist.

Magnettest der 6208 mit zwei kleinen Ferrit-Magneten (von 6015) und
einem alten konventionellen Neodym (aus 6025.500).
Die Wavebox hält bei 15mm am Schaubecken in der Seeshaupter Str. 68.
Die Anleitung schreibt 12mm, der Katalog 15mm.

Fazit: Die Anleitung muss auf 15mm geändert werden

Thanks for the update Roger. (Not sure I can cancel my order for the upgraded magnets at this point, but that's OK -- stronger is always better.)

If you don't use them, I could take them back for a credit if your dealer won't take them back as this was due to my advice and for that I am sorry.

No problem at all Roger. I REALLY do appreciate all your help. Because of it, I have all Tunze powerheads and wave box in my new build.
