glazed pot

Hi, newbie question here -

does anyone have seen success or failure with glazed pots for bonded clowns? I got a bonded pair in my DT. I gave them a glazed pot and they seem happy as a clam about finding it. I don't know if the little eggs can stick on there though algae has no trouble growing.

Hmmm... pots are a good substitute for an anemone, but I never used anything with glazing for the simple fact that the glaze might leach some sort of toxin into the water. Any specific reason for using a glazed pot?

I don't mean painted glazing. I mean the china porcelain glazing like you'd have on a nice china - the clear glass like lustrous kind. Or the ones on coffee mugs. from Ikea:

Those won't leach into any water, as we use them to eat or drink off. I put one of those pots into the tank and this pair of clowns took to the pot once they found it. (actually started fighting each other... that's another story.. ).

I have a yellow stripe maroon spawning on a glazed flower pot base. No problems so far. - mark

Ah! Good to know. Should not be a problem. I have had eggs layed on glass so a "glazed" or enamelled pot/cup/mug should do the trick. Best of luck to you.

My pair is in a RBTA, always lays on the glass so put a glazed pot base, not the pot the base on the glass, now she lays on it. If i want to collect the whole lot of them i pull it out. I get about 1000 fry that way. Since that is not practical i now normally just collect the fry and get about 30-60 under a flashlight. More practical. But yes the glazed base against the glass works/
