In my tank. I was going to use the 5mm gloves to clean my tank.

Why??? There are aquarium gloves that work great...

I would suppose that the 5mil would give you plenty of protection in your tank... but they are very pricey to use in an tank...

Protection is Never pricey !!

Yeah, it is when you can get great protection with Aquarium gloves and not take a chance in ruining good dive gloves...but may be you are coming up with a good alternative!!! I have an old pair of 5 mil...I just may have to try them....The difference will be the aquarium gloves actually keep your hands dry!!! But hey may be dry gloves would be the ticket!!!
