glue down corals?

Do most of you glue your frags to rock or try to place it where it will stay first? I'm afraid to glue them, I'm new and not sure if they like where they are at first...

Sometimes I dont glue right away. I make sure they are going to be happy where they are. Sometimes I just glue them right on. What kind of frag is it?

Our club is having a frag swap this weekend, so I don't know, I want some favites and zoas for sure...... are they picky where they go?

IME they have a bigger problem with too much light than with too little. I error on the side of less light.

Since I'm just starting my first reef tank, I have 2x 65 watts 10,000k/actinic. Just some softies I know. It's a 54 corner. I wouldn't think thats too much light for these types are they?

light

light

you can upgrade alter, under those light you can place the zoas anywere, some like alot of light/some alot of flow, just have fun with it,its always trial and error, thats why its so fun............soon you will become a reef-o-holic...............

Depending how your tank is setup you can glue your frags to a small piece of rubble, then move the rubble around until you have it where you like it. Secure the rubble with epoxy, or just wedge it in.

if you are looking to get zoas, just use superglue gel and stick them on a small piece of rock, one that you can easily move around, and one that the zoas can grow and spread on.

+1 on gluing to rubble!

Easy to move and acclimate to lights. Zoas are great and easy to glue too.

Pat dry the rock rubble and the bottom end of the Zoa carefully. Use gloves for safety--some Zoas emit a toxin which can be a danger to humans. Stick the frag on the rock. Wait 30 seconds. Put it in the tank.

Superglue Gel works best, any brand made with cyanaocrylate. WalMart has this gel and its cheap.

Agreed with gluing onto a piece of rubble. It gives you a much easier time trying to find where your corals will be happy, and you can kind of build up places that you want a little more rock. Have fun at the swap!
