Youre fine to use it now. FWIW, check valves are not a good way to go in a saltwater application. Mineral build up can cause them to fail.
There are two other ways to deal with the backsiphon issue.
1. Bring your returns up over the top and down just under the waters surface with a nozzle or open pipe.
2. Drill two 1/8" holes in each of however many return piupes you have right below the waters surface, this will break the siphon.
In both of those instances you still need enough extra room in your sump for the water that will back siphon until the siphon is broke.
Even if you DO use a checkvalve, you need to clean it with vinegar every couple of months AND still do one of the above just in case.......so they are kind of pointless
