Glueing wood

Yes, this is abit of freshwater question but...
When I was at glasscages getting Angela's tank I picked up some of his grapewood. I have soaked it forever and it still does not sink. I have tried gluing it and nothing holds it. Anyone have a suggestion for making it stick to a piece of rock to keep it from floating? Or any ideas for that matter?
Thanks

Drill a hole and run a zip tie through it to attach it to a piece of acrylic or plexiglass. that should help it to sink. You might not need to drill holes if there are pieces along the "base" that you could just run the zip ties over. You can bury the zip ties/acrylic under the gravel (if you have gravel in the bottom of the tank).

Hmm that may work. Thanks Jack. The acrylic would need to be fairly large as this is a 2-3 foot long piece that is very buoyant. Maybe I could even use the "invisible" fishing line to tie it down. I just have seen many pieces of drift wood glued to rock. I and Autumn have dried it completely many times to try and make it stick to a piece of rock.

I took a piece of slate rock, drilled a hole in it and attached some driftwood to the rock with a wood screw and then buried the slate in the gravel.

When we had our freshwater tank, we made our own driftwood pieces the way Jack mentioned - ziptied to a piece of acrylic. The gravel did a good job of keeping the wood down, you just have to get it buried the right way so it looks good without burying it too deep in the stones...

...back when we only had a freshwater tank and thought "saltwater looked so neat, but we could never do it"...oh, being naive and still having money, those were the days :)
