Goby/Pistol Shrimp QT Question

I've got a Goby/Pistol Shrimp pair coming in from the Diver's Den this week and had a couple questions regarding QT.

I plan in QTing the fish, however I am curious what to do with the shrimp while the fish is in QT. It's a simple 10 gal, BB tank. I can see three options and was curious which would be the best...

1) Place fish/shrimp in BB QT

2) Put some sacrificial sand in the QT tank for the fish/shrimp combo

3) QT the fish and put the shrimp in the DT until the fish is ready.

Option 3 sounds like the easiest, especially if there's any medication required for the fish.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

if u qt both together you can put a bowl full of sand in the qt. if u decide to treat with copper based meds then shrimp will have to come out and u will need to use pure silica sand.
more details on my sticky (guide to setup a QT) on top of the forums. post #74-77.

Note: personally i dont qt inverts so i would go with option 3 and drip acclimate the shrimp to DT and fish to QT.

FWIW, I regret adding a pistol shrimp to keep a yellow watchman goby company. Every night it drags my LPS coral frags from the sand to plug their burrow entrances. Sometimes, it drags the frags into the burrow. I have to take an inventory every morning and then do a search and recovery operation to retrieve the frags.
