Goby Question

Okay, do gobies ever suffer from strokes? I've had my high-fin red-banded goby plus his shrimp housekeeper for a while. All of a sudden the goby is swimming around aimlessly, sideways, upside-down, gently bumping into rocks etc. It seems to want to eat, but its aim is completely off and I cant tell if it gets anything at all. I keep waiting for it to die, but it has been hanging on for a week now. The shrimp seems to be at a loss, but welcomes the goby back when it floats into the burrow. No sign of parasites, disease etc. Everything else in tank is acting normally. Any thoughts?

Quick update because I am really stumped. He's still alive, but mainly lays on the substrate upside-down unless there is a stimulus, at which point he flips back over and staggers away. The really weird thing is his body conditon looks fine! Thinking about a fresh-water dip out of desperation or just freezing the poor little guy to end his suffering.
