Goby/shrimp combo

I have a tiger pistol and a yellowwatcmen goby. Great pair. I have only heard the shrimp snap a couple times. You can not get a pistol that does not snap. They will only snap mabey 1-2 times a day and most of the time you wont even be there.

I am pretty sure you cannot have a goby with a mantis. And the pistol will not go around killing everything. Make sure you do your research before posting. Mantis shrimp. They're blind as bats and stick to gobies like glue without shooting everything to death.

Hopefully you realize he is kidding. Gobies only pair up with pistol shrimp and then on certain types of pistols. The snapping isnt that loud or often that it is annoying. The bigger issue with them is they will bury your corals if you have them close to the sand.

I really wasn't sure if he was kidding or not. That is the problems with computers you cant tell if someone is joking or not. I have gotten in trouble plenty of times for joking when someone thought i was serious. The only problem i have heard about pistols is that that they can collaps your rock if it is not sturdy.

the snapping is so quiet, you might not even notice its there.

My tank is in my bedroom and it doesn't wake me up and i am somewhat a light sleeper.

I've had my tiger pistol now for over a year and he had a good friend (yellow watchman goby) until it jumped out of the tank one night. My don't even notice my pistol shrimp snap anymore but I think he does it on average of once an evening. They will snap if a fish (other than a shrimp goby) tries to enter his cave.
For what reason are you so cautious of the snapping? Were you lead to believe that they snap often?

I think different tigers act different. Ive had four, all with varying volumes and dispositions. The ones that "kept it poppin" (sorry for the pun 
) were my favorites. Its always interesting to see where they are going to pop up next, and always cool to see what frags, shells, and small rocks youll see crammmed at the edge of a larger rock.
I think Im going to put half pieces of PVC on the bottom of my next tank before adding the sand. I always push the rock down to the glass, or fill the sand in around it with these guys. This lessens the chance of a rock slide. Im lucky enough to not have had a slide yet.
