not really a pair i guess but my yellow watchman and skunk cleaner are buds. as soon as the goby comes out the shrimp rushes him and starts cleaning...
The pistol shrimp wanders around a bit. I just found mine in my sump. I hve no idea how it got there or how long it has been there. but it is nice to see him though. But he is stubborn i had to tap him on the back 4-5 times just to make him move an inch I finnally got him into a cup though and put him back in the main tank where he belongs.
I have an orange-spot goby paired with a tiger named Digger. Digger is a frequent 'popper', and he's LOUD - that said, he's also a big boy. We've had him about 2.5 years, and he must be close to 3" long now.
There are a few nasty species of pistol out there, but the ones that pair with gobies are generally gentle souls. Digger lives with a coral banded shrimp now, and has shared his space with skunk cleaners, peppermints, various crabs, hermits, snails, tiny fish and a crazy 2" whelk that's forever trying to get into his cave. He snaps, crackles and pops if anyone comes too close, but never hurts anyone.
Shameless picture of my boy - this is an old one, from about a year and a half ago:
do shrimps feed their gobies w/ pods? because my yashia does not come out of its burrow. i try to feed it mysis and brine but it still does not come out. i ocassionally hear my tiger pistol snap from time to time but its not really noticable unless im paying close attention.
