Going to pick up my clam today

My wife and daughter are buying me my first clam today. We are going to the LFS to pick up shortly. It will about a 3" Crocea. I have all my parameter right in my tank and it is ready to go.

I want to make sure it has the best chance for survival so I have a few questions. My tank is a 90 Gallon with 770 Watts of light (2 x 250 MH and 2 110 VHO actinics). I have 100 lbs of figi live rock also.

Questions:

What is the best way to acclimate my clams. My LFS keeps them under 10K Reeflux bulbs which is the same setup I have.

How long should I run my MH Lights. I currently run my lights a total of 9 hours, 9 for the VHO and 7 for the MHs.

Will this clam do ok on the sandbed? My tank is 24" deep with a 5" DSB so it would be about 19" from the surface. I don't have a very good place in the rocks to place him. If I have to put it in the rock, how much room will it need around it?

I may have addtional questions later when I get him in his new home.

Thanks

is the clam aquacultured?
the way i accimilated my clam was 15 minutes temp adjust, then 1 cup of tank water, then after 10 minutes another cup, then after another ten another cup. by then the water is 200% of what it originally was, then i placed him low in the tank. after one week i moved him to the very top placed on a LR rubble so i can move him easily once he attaches himself.

Well, I have him in the tank already. I did something very similar to what you said. He is currently on the sandbed with a flat piece of rock under the sand for him to attach himself. He is opening up nice but opening and closing as my fish swim by. he has turned himself about 45 degrees from how I place him but he look pretty good. He is a beautiful blue/green color.

I spoke to the guy at the store and I've bumped my VHO's up to 10 hours and my MH up to 8 hours.

Here is a picture of it after about an hour in the tank.

He appears to be doing very well. Can you tell by looking whether he is completely able to get nourishment from just light? He is right at 3 inches but pretty brilliant in color.

Your photoperiod is fine...in fact, I didn't think you needed to bump it up. He's always going to keep moving...that's just what they do. Just leave him alone for a while to he really becomes well adjusted to the tank.

Oh, I have not bothered him at all since I put him in the tank. I have a flat piece of rock just under the sand that I hope he attaches to.

Here is a picture of him after 24 hours.
