Going to PUnta Cana end of this month

Is there anything to do outside of the resorts? I hate doing all inclusive and staying inside at all times, but my gf loves those sorta things. Are there any places or trips outside the resort that is worthwhile? Might have to go alone while the gf stays in resort. lol

my wife and i went there on our honeymoon and we went on 2 snorkeling trips that were awesome one off of punta cana and one by santa domingo. we went to catalina island we stayed at all inclusive in punta cane we loved it i want to go back prices are great and beautifill have fun and go snorkaling or scuba diving.
