Going to Varadero

Im heading to Varadero Cuba in a few weeks and was wondering if there are any good snorkeling or diving sites wotrth checking out? I plan on doing a day long catamaran excursion with some snorkeling on the reef.
any other suggestions? shark dives? reef dives? shore dives/snorkeling? And does anyone recomend any particular tour operator in the area?

I was in Varadero about a year ago and it was very windy so they wouldnt take you out I had to take a bus ride to the bay of pigs about 2 hours.
