Gold max. clam question

I've had my clam for about 1.5 years. I've noticed over the past 4 - 5 months or so that it's been turning a lighter color in the middle. It almost looks like it's been lightly airbrushed down the very center with white paint.

Someone said that's because it's a 'tear-drop' gold maxima.

Any thoughts? It's perfectly healthy and happy as a clam can be.

Thanks for your thoughts!

looks like a localized bleaching to me. there are some books on the subject, but hard to say why it happend. May lose more zooanthellae and die eventually. Have you done something different in the tank ?

Quite possibly the case of a lesser light source ,than its previous habitat.

Hopefully you have Halide lighting, as most clams require this.
They may do alright under something different, but this is the staple of the Tridacna family.
