Hey all,
So about 4 months ago I bought two juvi gold nugget maroons. They were both 1-1.5" when i got them. When released into the tank there was never really any big aggression. When they found hosts is when it all began, which is going to happen when territories come into play.
My main question is do you think they will eventually become a pair. One of them has grown to be about 2-2.5 inches and mostly a yellow body already. The other one has stayed the same size and remains white. The larger one hosts my RBTA and the smaller hosts a gold torch. They are diagonal from each other. They both eat daily and do not bother each other when the food is put in. From time to time the larger one will swim up to the smaller one, but the small one just retreats to the torch. There is never any over aggressiveness from the occasionally chase back to the gold torch which results in a tiny fin rip and what not. The small one does turn sideways but never shakes.
I am curious if you believe the smaller one is already a female from when i first got it or should i just wait it out. Like i said above they have been in the same tank together for about 4 months and zero separation required. Any input or advice is appreciated.
Thanks!
